Putty is one of the best and must-have freeware for people working on Linux/Unix but use Windows as client like me. We need to manage many servers and sometimes we are hoping we can run/execute same command on multiple host at same time, or just input same thing to multiple host. I searched online for a tool can do this. And it looks like PuTTYCS (PuTTY Command Sender) is the only one existing. But I’m a little bit disappointing after tried the software, it’s good but not good enough. It can only send command to each window one by one, and you have to wait until last window got input. So I think I should do something, and puttyCluster was born (https://github.com/mingbowan/puttyCluster)
interface is simple:
When you input Windows title pattern in the text box, you will be prompt for how many windows matching the pattern, like this:
and you click the edit box under “cluster input”, what ever key you pressed will pass to all those windows simultaneously, even “Ctrl-C”, “Esc”
and you can make those window transparent by drag the slider.
you can also make all windows restore to it’s default location, so you can find out all the windows even you minimized any.
To select multiple window with different pattern, you need a little back ground for regular expression. http://www.autohotkey.com/docs/misc/RegEx-QuickRef.htm , first you need to be able to select any of them using some pattern. For example, you can use “.*user1.*” to select any window with “user1” in the title. And you can use “.*host2.*” to select any window with “host2” in the title. And then you can use “(.*user1.*)|(.*host2.*) to select both
try download from https://github.com/mingbowan/puttyCluster and try it yourself.
it doesn't recognize any putty windows, application is unfortunatelyt useless
ReplyDeleteWow this application is AMAZING! I just used it to do maintenance on some switches. Feature request: 'Insert Window title'. This would come in handy to backup a bucketload of switch configurations to a TFTP server as the command for HP ProCurve is 'copy running-conf tftp 1.2.3.4 '. An 'insert Windows title' or something like that without the ' - Putty' attached, would be so great if it were possible.
